In Pixar’s Cars, Michael Keaton voices the rival racer Chick Hicks.
Chick Hicks is a green veteran stock car and one of Lightning McQueen’s principal competitors in the Piston Cup season. He uses aggressive tactics and values victory over sportsmanship, creating a direct contrast with the lessons McQueen learns in Radiator Springs.
Chick’s design includes a large mustache-like grille and the number 86. His sponsor is the fictional Hostile Takeover Bank, commonly abbreviated as HTB. In the climactic race, Chick’s reckless driving causes a crash involving The King, and his eventual victory is overshadowed by the crowd’s disapproval.
Michael Keaton’s performance gives Chick a fast-talking, competitive energy. Chick is not the same character as Jackson Storm, the technologically advanced rival introduced in Cars 3. The two racers belong to different stages of McQueen’s career and represent different forms of competition.
