In Pixar's Cars, what is the name of the retired racer who once drove for the Fabulous Hudson Hornet team?

The story behind the answer

Doc Hudson is the retired racer who once drove for the Fabulous Hudson Hornet team in Pixar's Cars.

Doc is a dark blue 1951 Hudson Hornet and serves as Radiator Springs' judge and physician. Before settling in the town, he was a celebrated racer known as the Fabulous Hudson Hornet. He won three Piston Cups, in 1951, 1952, and 1953, and held the record for most wins in a single season until a crash ended his racing career.

Doc initially hides his racing past from Lightning McQueen because he resents the racing world that abandoned him after his accident. Lightning's arrival revives Doc's interest in competition, and Doc eventually agrees to help train him. The character's story explains why experience and humility matter more than raw speed.

Doc was inspired by the real Hudson Hornet, a celebrated early-1950s stock car. He is voiced by Paul Newman in Cars, one of Newman's final major film performances. Doc's design is distinct from the real car used as his inspiration.
