In Pixar's Cars, what is the name of the retired Hudson Hornet champion?

The story behind the answer

Doc Hudson is the retired Hudson Hornet champion in Pixar's Cars.

Doc Hudson is Radiator Springs' local physician and judge, but he was once a famous racing driver known as the Fabulous Hudson Hornet. He won three Piston Cups before a crash ended his racing career and left him bitter about how quickly the racing world forgot him.

Doc initially treats Lightning McQueen as an arrogant nuisance. Their relationship changes as McQueen learns about Doc's history and begins to respect his experience. Doc eventually supports the young racer and becomes his crew chief.

Paul Newman voices Doc Hudson in Cars, making the character especially notable because Newman was himself a well-known racing enthusiast and competitor. Doc's Hudson Hornet identity also connects the fictional story with a real American automobile famous for its racing success in the early 1950s.
