In Pixar’s Cars, Bob Costas voices the race announcer Bob Cutlass.
Bob Cutlass provides television commentary during the Piston Cup races. His name is a playful reference to real sports broadcasting, and his voice performance connects the fictional racing coverage to the style of televised motorsport commentary.
The character appears alongside Darrell Cartrip, who is voiced by racing driver and television commentator Darrell Waltrip. Together, they explain race developments and introduce viewers to the competitive world surrounding Lightning McQueen.
Bob Cutlass is easy to confuse with Brent Mustangburger, a commentator introduced in later Cars media and voiced by Keith Jackson. Chick Hicks is a racer and rival, not the announcer voiced by Bob Costas.
