In Pixar's Cars, what is the name of the blue Hudson Hornet who once won three Piston Cups?

The story behind the answer

In Pixar's Cars, the blue Hudson Hornet who once won three Piston Cups is Doc Hudson.

Doc is the respected judge and physician of Radiator Springs, but he secretly has a celebrated racing past. He won three Piston Cups before a serious crash ended his career and left him frustrated by how quickly the racing world forgot him.

His history becomes important when Lightning McQueen arrives as an arrogant rookie. Doc initially refuses to help Lightning, yet eventually trains him and teaches him that racing skill includes patience, teamwork, and respect. Doc's character is inspired by the real Hudson Hornet, a famous early stock car.

Paul Newman provided Doc's voice in Cars. The character should not be confused with The King, the veteran racer competing in the film's championship, or Smokey, who appears in Cars 3.
