In Pixar’s Cars, what is the name of Mater’s towing business?

In Pixar’s Cars, Mater’s business is called Tow Mater Towing and Salvage.

The name is a pun on the character’s nickname and the phrase “tow mater,” which sounds like “tomato.” Mater is the rusty tow truck who operates the business in Radiator Springs and becomes Lightning McQueen’s closest friend.

Mater’s job helps establish his role in the community. He knows the town’s roads, stories, and residents, and he treats towing and salvage as part of everyday life rather than as glamorous work. His friendship with McQueen grows through their nighttime activities, including tractor tipping and exploring the countryside.

The business name is often shortened in casual discussion to “Mater’s towing service,” but the full sign name includes both towing and salvage. Mater’s character is voiced by comedian Larry the Cable Guy, whose performance gives the truck his distinctive rural humor and speech patterns.
