In Pixar’s Cars, what is the name of Lightning McQueen’s first major rival?

In Pixar’s Cars, Lightning McQueen’s first major rival is Chick Hicks.

Chick Hicks is a veteran race car who competes for the Piston Cup and resents the attention given to the younger McQueen. His green body, moustache-like grille design, and racing number 86 distinguish him from McQueen and the reigning champion, Strip Weathers.

Hicks represents an aggressive win-at-all-costs approach to racing. His use of dirty tactics contrasts with McQueen’s changing understanding of sportsmanship. The rivalry reaches its climax during the three-way final race at the Los Angeles International Speedway.

Chick Hicks is sometimes confused with Jackson Storm, McQueen’s principal rival in Cars 3. Storm belongs to a later generation of high-tech racers, while Hicks is the antagonist of the first Cars film.
