In Pixar’s Cars, what California town becomes Lightning McQueen’s home base?
Answer
Radiator Springs
Answer
Radiator Springs
Radiator Springs becomes Lightning McQueen’s home base in Pixar’s Cars.
The fictional town lies along historic U.S. Route 66 in Arizona. McQueen reaches it accidentally after being separated from his transport truck, Mack, and damaging the road during a nighttime chase.
At first, McQueen treats Radiator Springs as an unwanted stop. He is ordered to repair the road, which brings him into regular contact with Doc Hudson, Sally Carrera, Mater, Flo, Ramone, and other residents. Those relationships gradually change his priorities.
The town is inspired by real Route 66 communities and roadside landmarks. A common mix-up is confusing Radiator Springs with Ornament Valley, the surrounding landscape used in the Cars films and theme-park attractions. Radiator Springs is the community itself, not the name of the entire region.
