In Pixar’s Cars 3, which trainer helps Lightning McQueen prepare to race again?

Cruz Ramirez helps Lightning McQueen prepare to race again in Pixar’s Cars 3.

Cruz is a young, highly trained racing technician and simulator coach who works with McQueen after the new racer Jackson Storm changes the competitive landscape. She initially approaches training through data, technology, and controlled exercises, while McQueen wants to regain the instincts and confidence that made him a champion.

Their relationship develops as both characters confront assumptions about who belongs on the track. Cruz has racing ability of her own, but her career has been shaped by expectations that she should remain a trainer rather than become a professional racer.

Cristela Alonzo voices Cruz Ramirez in the English-language film. Cruz is sometimes confused with Sally Carrera, McQueen’s friend and the owner of the Cozy Cone Motel, but Sally does not serve as his trainer.
