In Pixar's Cars 2, Francesco Bernoulli is from Italy.
Francesco is a Formula One-inspired racing car and Lightning McQueen's chief rival in the World Grand Prix. His design and accent reflect Italian motorsport traditions, while his name evokes the Italian mathematician and physicist Francesco Bernoulli.
The character is voiced by John Turturro in the English version. Cars 2 travels through several international locations, including Tokyo, Porto Corsa, and London, but Francesco's nationality is Italian rather than British or Japanese. The film's fictional racing world borrows visual ideas from real Grand Prix competition without depicting an actual Formula One driver.
