In Pixar’s Cars 3, which trainer helps Cruz Ramirez prepare for racing?

Lightning McQueen helps train Cruz Ramirez in Pixar’s Cars 3.

At the beginning of Cars 3, McQueen is struggling to compete with a new generation of high-tech racers led by Jackson Storm. After a crash, his sponsor gives him a chance to return to racing if he works with Cruz Ramirez, a trainer at the Rust-eze Racing Center.

McQueen initially treats Cruz mainly as a tool for improving his own performance. Their relationship changes when Cruz’s natural talent and racing ambition become clear. With guidance from McQueen and lessons connected to Doc Hudson’s past, Cruz eventually takes a more direct role in competition.

Cruz Ramirez is voiced by Cristela Alonzo, while McQueen is again voiced by Owen Wilson. Cars 3 emphasizes mentorship, changing careers, and the possibility that a champion can preserve a legacy by helping a successor rather than simply continuing to compete.
