In Pixar's Cars 3, which racing rookie becomes Lightning McQueen's major rival?

In Pixar's Cars 3, Jackson Storm becomes Lightning McQueen's major rival. Storm is a next-generation racer whose advanced training and technology make him much faster than many veteran competitors.

Storm's success symbolizes a generational shift in racing. Lightning is still talented, but modern racers are designed around simulation, data analysis, and specialized preparation. After a serious crash, Lightning receives help from trainer Cruz Ramirez and begins searching for a way to compete with the new generation.

Jackson Storm is not the same character as Chick Hicks, Lightning's antagonist in the first Cars. Storm is younger and more technologically advanced, while Chick is an established competitor from Lightning's early career. The contrast helps Cars 3 focus on aging, mentorship, and the possibility of passing a legacy to someone new.
