In Pixar's Cars 3, Cruz Ramirez becomes the new Dinoco champion after the final race.
Cruz begins Cars 3 as Lightning McQueen's trainer at the Rust-eze Racing Center, not as an established Piston Cup star. Her own racing ability emerges during the story, and McQueen eventually gives her the chance to compete in his place. In the final race, Cruz overtakes Jackson Storm and wins, earning the Dinoco sponsorship that McQueen had previously sought.
McQueen does not disappear from racing: he continues as Cruz's mentor and changes his team colors to support her. This ending is sometimes simplified as McQueen winning again, but the film deliberately gives the victory to Cruz. The result completes her arc from simulator trainer to champion while preserving McQueen's role in the sport. Dinoco therefore becomes associated with Cruz's breakthrough at the end of the film.
