Cruz Ramirez becomes Lightning McQueen’s new training partner in Pixar’s Cars 3.

Cruz is introduced as a modern racing trainer at the Rust-eze Racing Center. She is assigned to help McQueen prepare for a comeback after the younger, technologically advanced racer Jackson Storm defeats him and other veteran competitors. Their early sessions are tense because McQueen wants traditional race experience, while Cruz emphasizes data, simulators, and modern training methods.

Cruz eventually reveals that she once dreamed of becoming a professional racer but was discouraged by the belief that she did not fit the expected image of a champion. McQueen recognizes her talent and helps her pursue that ambition. At the Florida 500, Cruz takes his place in the race and proves that she can compete at the highest level.
