In Pixar's Cars 3, Jackson Storm is Lightning McQueen's main next-generation rival.
Storm is an advanced-generation race car who quickly dominates the Piston Cup season. His sleek design, powerful performance, and confidence represent the technological shift confronting McQueen, who is an older champion facing increasingly fast newcomers.
Armie Hammer provided Storm's voice. The character's rivalry with McQueen drives the film's opening crisis, including McQueen's serious crash and his decision to seek help from the Rust-eze Racing Center.
Jackson Storm is different from Francesco Bernoulli, who is McQueen's major rival in Cars 2. Chick Hicks is the aggressive competitor from the original Cars, while Cal Weathers is a veteran racer in Cars 3. Those racers belong to different stages of McQueen's career.
