In Pixar's Cars 3, which driver becomes Lightning McQueen's new racing trainer?

In Pixar's Cars 3, Cruz Ramirez becomes Lightning McQueen's new racing trainer.

Cruz is assigned to help McQueen prepare for a comeback after a new generation of high-tech racers makes veteran competitors seem outdated. Her training methods include simulator work, physical conditioning, and practice at the Rust-eze Racing Center.

Although Cruz initially appears to be only a coach, the story reveals that she has always wanted to race. McQueen eventually recognizes her talent and gives her the opportunity to compete. This changes the film's central conflict from simply defeating Jackson Storm to passing experience and confidence to a new racer.

Cruz is voiced by Cristela Alonzo. Sally Carrera remains McQueen's close friend and romantic partner, but she is not his racing trainer.
