In Pixar’s Cars 3, which character becomes a rookie racer for Rust-eze Racing?

Cruz Ramirez becomes a rookie racer for Rust-eze Racing in Pixar’s Cars 3.

Cruz begins the film as Lightning McQueen’s high-tech trainer at the Rust-eze Racing Center. She is highly knowledgeable about simulator training and modern racing methods, but she has not achieved her own dream of becoming a professional racer.

Lightning’s training and eventual decision to give Cruz an opportunity allow her to enter the competition. Her journey parallels his own: both characters must overcome assumptions about what they are capable of doing.

Cristela Alonzo voices Cruz Ramirez. The character is a yellow sports coupe whose story gives Cars 3 a new racing perspective while preserving Lightning’s importance as a mentor and former champion.
