In Pixar’s Cars 3, Cruz Ramirez is the trainer who helps Lightning McQueen return to racing.
Cruz works at the Rust-eze Racing Center, where she uses modern technology and data-driven exercises to prepare racers. McQueen initially resists her methods because he wants to train in a more traditional way. Their relationship changes when Cruz joins him on a journey to rediscover the lessons of earlier racing generations.
Cruz is not merely a coach. She has racing ability of her own, but fear and limited opportunity have kept her from pursuing that ambition. McQueen eventually recognizes her talent and supports her move into competition. Her story gives the film a second athletic arc alongside McQueen’s career transition.
Cruz Ramirez is voiced by Cristela Alonzo in the English version. She should not be confused with Sally Carrera, McQueen’s friend and the town attorney, or Louise Nash, a retired racer connected with Doc Hudson’s past.
