Cruz Ramirez wins the championship at the Florida 500 in Pixar’s Cars 3.
The Florida 500 is the film’s climactic race. Lightning McQueen initially enters it to prove he can still compete with the newer generation of high-tech racers, especially Jackson Storm. After a series of setbacks, he changes his strategy and gives Cruz the opportunity to race in his place.
Cruz begins the event as McQueen’s trainer and simulator partner, but she proves that her own racing ability has been underestimated. She ultimately defeats Jackson Storm and becomes the new Piston Cup champion.
The Florida 500 is fictional, although its name follows the convention of real American stock-car race titles. It should not be confused with the Dinoco 400, a race from the first Cars film, or the film’s broader Piston Cup championship.
