Jackson Storm is the high-tech racer who threatens Lightning McQueen's career in Pixar's Cars 3.
Jackson Storm is a sleek black-and-blue next-generation racer introduced as the dominant young competitor in the film's Piston Cup season. He is faster than many veteran racers because of advanced design, extensive data analysis, and modern training technology. Armie Hammer voices Storm in the English version.
Storm's success makes Lightning realize that experience alone may no longer be enough. Lightning attempts to compete with the new generation, but a serious crash leads the Rust-eze team to question whether he can remain competitive. The conflict is therefore about technological change as well as racing ability.
Jackson Storm is not the same character as Chick Hicks, Lightning's aggressive rival in the first Cars film. Storm is a new-generation racer, while Chick is an older Piston Cup competitor. The film ultimately shifts attention from simply defeating Storm to developing Cruz Ramirez as a future champion.
