Miles Axlerod is revealed as the villain behind the plot to discredit Allinol in Pixar’s Cars 2.
Axlerod presents himself as the organizer of the World Grand Prix and promotes Allinol, a new alternative fuel. The races are secretly manipulated so that cars using the fuel suffer dangerous failures caused by electromagnetic pulses.
The plan is intended to make the public reject alternative fuel and return to petroleum-based energy. Axlerod’s apparent public identity hides his connection to the conspiracy and to the earlier events involving the supposedly mysterious camera car.
The film’s other major antagonist, Professor Zündapp, is a collaborator rather than the ultimate mastermind. Finn McMissile and Holley Shiftwell investigate the conspiracy as spies.
