In Pixar's Cars 2, who is revealed to be the villain behind the plot involving Allinol fuel?

The story behind the answer

Sir Miles Axlerod is revealed as the villain behind the Allinol plot in Pixar's Cars 2.

Axlerod presents himself as a wealthy former racer and the organizer of the World Grand Prix. He promotes Allinol as an alternative fuel and uses the race's publicity to persuade cars around the world to adopt it. The film later reveals that he has manipulated the fuel and the related attacks for his own scheme.

His plan is tied to oil and energy politics: sabotaging Allinol makes alternative fuel appear dangerous, while conventional oil remains valuable. The spy plot places Mater, Finn McMissile, and Holley Shiftwell in opposition to him.

Axlerod's name is a wordplay reference to the real-world Axelrod surname, but he is an original Cars character. He should not be confused with Professor Zündapp, another antagonist who works with him.
