In Pixar's Cars 2, who composed the film's original musical score?

Michael Giacchino composed the original musical score for Pixar’s Cars 2.

Giacchino’s score supports the sequel’s broader tone, combining racing music with spy-film influences. Cars 2 follows Mater and Lightning McQueen across several countries, so the soundtrack shifts between international adventure, action sequences, and comic character moments.

The original Cars film was scored by Randy Newman, which makes him a frequent wrong answer for Cars 2. Giacchino had already worked extensively in film, television, and games, and he was known for writing orchestral scores for large-scale adventure stories.

Cars 2 also includes songs by other artists, including “Collision of Worlds” by Brad Paisley and Robbie Williams. Those songs are separate from the film’s original score, which is the composed instrumental music credited to Giacchino.
