In Pixar’s Cars 2, Miles Axlerod secretly organizes the plot against Allinol.
Axlerod is introduced as the founder of the World Grand Prix and a former oil baron who claims to have converted to electric power. He promotes Allinol, an alternative fuel, as part of the event’s environmental message. Later, the investigation reveals that he is secretly directing the conspiracy.
The plan uses electromagnetic pulses to make cars running on Allinol appear to suffer dangerous failures. The resulting panic is intended to discredit alternative fuel and restore demand for petroleum. Mater, Finn McMissile, and Holley Shiftwell uncover the scheme before it can succeed.
Miles Axlerod is voiced by Eddie Izzard in the English version. He is sometimes confused with Professor Zündapp, the German scientist who helps carry out the technical side of the plot. Axlerod is the organizer behind the conspiracy, not merely one of its operatives.
