In Pixar's Cars 2, the fictional racecourse Porto Corsa is meant to represent Italy.
Porto Corsa is the second World Grand Prix venue. Its coastal architecture, harbor, narrow streets, and Mediterranean setting draw on visual ideas associated with the Italian Riviera. The race is staged through and around the fictional seaside town rather than at a real named circuit.
The location forms the middle chapter of the World Grand Prix, between the opening event in Tokyo and the final race in London. It also gives the film a setting for its spy-story action, including Mater's growing involvement with Finn McMissile and Holley Shiftwell.
Porto Corsa should not be confused with Portorosso, the Italian seaside setting of Pixar's Luca. They are fictional places from different films and have different names and stories.
