In Pixar’s Cars 2, racer Francesco Bernoulli represents Italy.
Francesco is an open-wheel race car and one of the headline competitors in the World Grand Prix. His confidence and repeated boasts create a comic rivalry with Lightning McQueen.
The character’s design draws on European open-wheel racing, while his name and national identity establish him as an Italian competitor. He is voiced in the English version by John Turturro.
Cars 2 uses the World Grand Prix to bring together racers from several countries. The competition travels through Tokyo, Porto Corsa, and London. Francesco’s Italian identity is therefore part of the film’s international racing premise, not merely a detail of his accent or name.
