In Pixar’s Cars 2, Miles Axlerod is the secret mastermind behind the plot to discredit Allinol.
Axlerod is introduced as a former oil baron who claims to have retired and converted himself into the world’s first self-made electric car. He organizes the World Grand Prix to promote Allinol, a supposedly clean alternative fuel, and presents the event as a showcase for environmentally friendly technology.
The hidden plan uses electromagnetic devices to make cars running on Allinol malfunction. The resulting accidents are intended to make the fuel look dangerous, allowing Axlerod to profit from continued dependence on oil. He works with Professor Zündapp and a group of anonymous vehicles to carry out the scheme.
The name can be confused with Professor Zündapp because both characters are involved in the conspiracy. Zündapp is the scientist and operational accomplice, while Axlerod is the organizer whose public image conceals the central plot.
