In Pixar's Cars 2, what title does Mater receive from the Queen of England?

Mater receives the title Sir Tow Mater from the Queen of England in Pixar's Cars 2.

At the end of the film, Mater is honored after helping stop the plot against the World Grand Prix. The ceremony takes place in London, and the Queen knights him, changing his name from the informal tow-truck pun Tow Mater to the formal title Sir Tow Mater.

The joke depends on the English word “sir” being added to “Tow Mater,” which sounds like “tomater” or “tomato” when spoken quickly. It also plays with the British tradition of knighthood, in which a person may use “Sir” before a first name after receiving a knighthood.

Mater remains the same rusty tow truck from Radiator Springs despite the new honor. The ceremony is a comic closing moment rather than a change in his social identity or occupation. Cars 2 presents him as an unlikely hero whose friendliness and honesty help solve the international mystery.
