In Pixar’s Cars 2, Miles Axlerod is the World Grand Prix’s creator and main villain.
Axlerod is introduced as a former oil tycoon who organizes the international race. He promotes Allinol, an alternative fuel, and presents the World Grand Prix as a showcase for the fuel’s benefits. Behind that public image, however, he is connected to the plot targeting the participating racers.
The story’s conspiracy uses electromagnetic devices to make cars running on Allinol behave dangerously. Axlerod’s plan is eventually exposed, and his supposed identity as an electric car is revealed to be part of his deception. His role links the racing event to the spy-thriller structure of the sequel.
Axlerod is often confused with Professor Zündapp, the German scientist and villain working within the conspiracy. Finn McMissile is the British agent investigating it, while Francesco Bernoulli is a rival racer. Axlerod is the character who created the World Grand Prix.
