Miles Axlerod is the World Grand Prix organizer secretly behind the espionage plot in Pixar’s Cars 2.
Axlerod is introduced as a former all-terrain racer who claims to have circumnavigated the world. He creates the World Grand Prix to promote Allinol, a supposedly clean alternative fuel. The competition becomes connected to a conspiracy involving modified broadcast technology and cars targeted during the races.
The film’s spy story initially directs suspicion toward other characters, including the villainous Professor Zündapp and various henchcars. Axlerod’s public role as a wealthy event organizer helps conceal his involvement until the investigation reveals the larger plan.
Finn McMissile is the British spy who investigates the conspiracy, not its organizer. Professor Zündapp is an antagonist working in the plot, while Acer is one of the henchcars involved in attacks. These distinctions are useful because Cars 2 deliberately presents several spy-thriller character roles.
