In Pixar's Cars 2, Miles Axlerod organizes the conspiracy surrounding the World Grand Prix.
Axlerod presents himself as a former oil tycoon who has become an environmental advocate and the organizer of the international race. His public campaign promotes Allinol, a supposedly clean alternative fuel. The film later reveals that the event and fuel program are part of a scheme designed to discredit alternative energy and benefit oil interests.
Axlerod's identity is central to the mystery investigated by Finn McMissile and Holley Shiftwell. Mater discovers important evidence despite being treated as an accidental bystander rather than a trained agent.
Professor Zündapp, usually called Professor Z, is a separate villain who helps carry out the plan. He is not the organizer whose public role connects the conspiracy to the World Grand Prix. Miles Axlerod is voiced by Eddie Izzard.
