Miles Axlerod is the Cars 2 villain who once pretended to be an ordinary car.
Axlerod is introduced as a former oil baron who has converted himself into an electric vehicle. He presents the World Grand Prix as a celebration of alternative fuel, but his real plan is to discredit the event’s fuel by secretly making cars react violently to the fuel’s electromagnetic radiation.
The character’s apparent identity is part of the mystery investigated by British spy car Finn McMissile and his partner Holley Shiftwell. Axlerod ultimately reveals himself as the mastermind behind the plot and as the car known as Professor Z’s employer.
Cars 2 shifts the series away from Radiator Springs and toward international espionage. Its races take place in locations including Tokyo, Porto Corsa, and London, while Mater becomes involved in the spy story after being mistaken for an agent.
