In Pixar's Cars 2, what is the name of the racing series created for the film?

The racing series created for Pixar's Cars 2 is the World Grand Prix.

The World Grand Prix is an international competition organized by billionaire Miles Axlerod. Its races showcase a new alternative fuel called Allinol and take place at major locations around the world, giving Cars 2 a globe-spanning setting.

Lightning McQueen enters the event as a celebrated American racer, while Mater accompanies him and becomes involved in the spy plot. The competition provides the public storyline that conceals the film's larger conspiracy.

The World Grand Prix should not be confused with the Piston Cup, the domestic stock-car championship central to the first Cars film. It is also distinct from real-world Formula One, although the film borrows visual ideas from international motorsport.
