In Pixar’s Cars 2, Porto Corsa hosts the second World Grand Prix race.
Porto Corsa is a fictional Italian seaside location designed for the middle race of the World Grand Prix. Its circuit runs through a picturesque coastal setting, giving the film a sharp contrast with the urban opening race in Tokyo. Lightning McQueen competes there while the spy storyline involving Mater develops around the race weekend.
The name combines “porto,” the Italian word for port, with “corsa,” meaning race or run. The setting draws on the visual language of Italian coastal towns, including waterfront buildings, hills, and narrow roads. It is part of the Cars universe rather than a real city listed on an Italian map.
Porto Corsa is often confused with the film’s other destinations. Tokyo hosts the first World Grand Prix race, and London hosts the final event. The town is also distinct from Radiator Springs, which remains the principal home of Lightning and Mater.
