In Pixar’s Cars 2, Porto Corsa hosts the second World Grand Prix race.
Porto Corsa is a fictional Italian seaside city created for the film. Its racecourse runs through a picturesque coastal environment and contrasts with the urban setting used for the opening event in Tokyo. The location helps the film present the World Grand Prix as a tour of distinct international landscapes.
The name resembles Italian place names, while the harbor, architecture and coastline evoke the Mediterranean. It is not the same as Portofino or any other specific real Italian racing venue, a distinction that can cause confusion when viewers remember only the film’s Italian setting.
The race is part of the competition promoted by Sir Miles Axlerod. Mater’s investigation and the wider spy plot unfold alongside the racing action.
