In Pixar's Cars 2, what is the name of the Italian racing car competing against Lightning McQueen?
Answer
Francesco Bernoulli
In Pixar's Cars 2, Francesco Bernoulli is the Italian racing car competing against Lightning McQueen.
Bernoulli is a Formula One-style open-wheel racer and one of the headline competitors in the World Grand Prix. He is confident, boastful, and presented as McQueen's principal sporting rival during the international series. His design and racing identity contrast with McQueen's stock-car appearance.
Francesco's name refers to the Bernoulli family associated with mathematics and science, while his character speaks with an Italian accent and represents Italy in the film's fictional racing world. John Turturro provides his English voice.
Francesco is distinct from Max Schnell, a German racer, and Carla Veloso, a Brazilian racer. Lewis Hamilton appears in Cars 2 as a character based on the real British driver and also competes in the World Grand Prix, but he is not the Italian rival named in the question.
