In Pixar's Cars 2, the Italian racecourse city in the World Grand Prix is Porto Corsa.
Porto Corsa hosts the second leg of the three-race World Grand Prix. Its course runs through a fictional coastal Italian setting, using narrow streets, waterfront scenery, and historic architecture to create a very different challenge from the opening race in Tokyo.
Lightning McQueen competes there as part of his attempt to prove himself against international drivers. The race is also connected to the film's spy story, which follows Mater after he is mistaken for an American agent. The competition and espionage plots intersect as the teams travel between countries.
Porto Corsa is fictional rather than a real Italian city. Its name echoes Italian coastal place names, while the location's visual style recalls towns along the Mediterranean. The other World Grand Prix venues are Tokyo and London, so Porto Corsa is the middle stop in the event's sequence.
