In Pixar’s Cars 2, what is the name of the Italian race location in the World Grand Prix?

The story behind the answer

Porto Corsa is the Italian race location in the World Grand Prix in Pixar’s Cars 2.

The fictional coastal city hosts the second race of the three-event championship. Its setting is inspired by the visual style of Italian seaside towns, with steep streets, waterfront scenery, and historic architecture surrounding the track.

Lightning McQueen races there after the opening event in Tokyo and before the final event in London. The World Grand Prix was created to promote Allinol, an alternative fuel marketed by Sir Miles Axlerod. The races therefore serve both as sporting events and as part of the film’s larger international mystery.

Porto Corsa should not be confused with Radiator Springs, the American desert town from the first movie, or with the real Italian town of Portofino. Porto Corsa is a fictional location created specifically for Cars 2.
