In Pixar’s Cars 2, what is the name of the Italian Formula One-style rival to Lightning McQueen?

Francesco Bernoulli is Lightning McQueen’s Italian Formula One-style rival in Pixar’s Cars 2.

Francesco is a bright red open-wheel race car who competes against McQueen in the World Grand Prix. His design draws on European formula racing, and his boastful personality creates a direct competitive contrast with McQueen. John Turturro provides Francesco’s voice in the English version.

Francesco is not the same kind of racer as Miguel Camino or Max Schnell. Miguel represents Spain and Max represents Germany, while Francesco is the championship’s Italian entrant. His rivalry with McQueen supplies the straightforward sporting storyline as Mater becomes entangled with Finn McMissile and Holley Shiftwell in the film’s spy plot.
