In Pixar’s Cars 2, the eccentric weapons scientist working for the villains is Professor Zündapp.

Professor Zündapp is an antagonist who helps develop the equipment used in the film’s conspiracy. He is a small German-made vehicle and serves as one of the technical figures behind the lemons’ plan to disrupt the World Grand Prix and manipulate public opinion about alternative fuel.

The character is voiced by Thomas Kretschmann. His name references Zündapp, a real German motorcycle and vehicle manufacturer founded in Nuremberg in 1917. The umlaut in “Zündapp” is sometimes omitted in simplified listings, but the character’s name is conventionally written with it.

Professor Zündapp is not the same character as Sir Miles Axlerod, the former oil baron who presents himself as an environmental reformer. Finn McMissile and Holley Shiftwell oppose the conspiracy rather than participate in it.
