In Pixar’s Cars 2, the British spy who becomes Mater’s ally is Finn McMissile.

Finn McMissile is an Aston Martin-inspired secret agent voiced by Michael Caine. He initially mistakes Mater for an important American agent after a covert meeting is disrupted. Although Mater is an ordinary tow truck, his accidental involvement helps him uncover a conspiracy connected with the World Grand Prix.

Finn works with Holley Shiftwell, a British intelligence agent stationed in Tokyo. Together, they investigate a group that plans to use a dangerous fuel and televised races to create an international crisis. Mater’s unusual behavior makes him seem foolish to some characters, but his observations ultimately prove valuable.

Finn McMissile is distinct from Sir Miles Axlerod, the former oil baron who presents the World Grand Prix. Axlerod appears to be promoting an alternative fuel, while Finn is investigating the hidden plot surrounding it. Cars 2 blends racing, spy-film conventions, and comedy more directly than the first Cars.
