Axlerod is introduced as a former oil baron who claims to have converted himself into an electric car. He presents the World Grand Prix as a way to promote Allinol, an alternative fuel, and invites racers from around the world to compete.
His public image is deliberately misleading. The film's spy plot reveals that Axlerod is connected to the conspiracy involving modified Allinol and the electromagnetic pulse weapons used against the racers. His identity as the mastermind is a late-story revelation.
Miles Axlerod is voiced by Eddie Izzard. He is often mixed up with Professor Zündapp, the German scientist working with the villains, or Finn McMissile, the British spy investigating them. Those characters have different roles: Axlerod is the organizer and hidden antagonist, while McMissile is an intelligence agent.
