In "Parks and Recreation", which actor plays Jean-Ralphio Saperstein?

The story behind the answer

In “Parks and Recreation,” Jean-Ralphio Saperstein is played by actor Ben Schwartz.

Jean-Ralphio is Tom Haverford’s cocky, chaotic friend, introduced as someone who considers himself a stylish “baller” and pickup artist. His improvised rhymes, exaggerated slang, spontaneous singing, and spectacularly poor business judgment make him one of the show’s most recognizable recurring characters.

The role was created specifically for Schwartz after the producers enjoyed meeting him. Jean-Ralphio initially had only a few lines, but Schwartz’s performance led the character to expand. He later became central to several storylines, including the ill-fated Entertainment 720 venture he launches with Tom.

Schwartz’s other Parks and Recreation appearances include Jean-Ralphio’s recurring schemes with Tom and his interactions with his twin sister, Mona-Lisa Saperstein. The character is sometimes confused with Nick Kroll’s “The Douche,” another comic figure in the series, but Kroll plays a radio host rather than Jean-Ralphio.
