In "Parks and Recreation", what is Gerry secretly really good at?

The story behind the answer

In "Parks and Recreation," Gerry is secretly really good at painting.

Gerry Gergich, played by Jim O’Heir, is usually treated as the Parks Department’s clumsy office scapegoat. The joke becomes funnier because he possesses impressive artistic talent that his co-workers routinely overlook.

His painting is highlighted in the Season 3 episode "Jerry’s Painting," when he creates a striking portrait of Leslie Knope as a powerful, semi-nude goddess. The painting is technically accomplished, even though the office reacts with discomfort and ridicule rather than admiration.

Painting is not Gerry’s only hidden ability. Across the series, he is also shown to be an excellent pianist, cook, inventor, and family man. That contrast is central to his character: at work he is constantly mocked, while outside the office he leads an unusually successful and happy life. The character’s many talents turn the office’s treatment of him into one of the show’s recurring comic ironies.
