In Norse mythology’s Ragnarok, the wolf said to swallow the Moon is Hati.
Hati Hróðvitnisson is a monstrous wolf who chases Máni, the personified Moon, across the sky. At Ragnarok, he catches and devours the Moon, contributing to the collapse of the familiar cosmic order.
Hati is often confused with Sköll because the two wolves perform parallel roles. Sköll pursues Sól, the Sun, while Hati pursues Máni, the Moon. In some modern retellings, their names and targets are accidentally switched.
The wolves belong to a wider group of supernatural beings connected with Loki and the destruction of the gods. Fenrir, another wolf associated with Ragnarok, is a separate figure: he breaks free and kills Odin, rather than swallowing the Moon.
