In Minions, Bob becomes king after pulling the Sword in the Stone. During the Minions’ attempt to help Scarlet Overkill steal the Imperial State Crown, Bob encounters the legendary sword while fleeing through London. He pulls it free, fulfilling the sword’s test and unexpectedly removing Queen Elizabeth II from the throne.
Bob’s victory is accidental rather than a carefully planned claim to power. As the youngest and smallest member of the trio, he is usually portrayed as innocent, timid and easily excited. His success contrasts with Kevin’s leadership role and Stuart’s musical, carefree personality.
Bob soon gives up the throne because Scarlet is furious that he has achieved the goal she wanted for herself. The film later restores Elizabeth to power, while she rewards Bob with a tiny crown for his teddy bear, Tim. A common mix-up is confusing Bob’s brief kingship with Kevin’s leadership of the trio; Kevin leads the mission, but Bob is the one who becomes king.
