In McDonald's branding history, which 1990s slogan asked customers, “Did somebody say McDonald's?”

The story behind the answer

“Did Somebody Say McDonald's?” was a McDonald's advertising slogan used during the late 1990s.

The line was designed as a conversational prompt: hearing someone mention food would trigger the idea of McDonald's. That structure made the slogan easy to repeat and suited television commercials built around sudden cravings or spontaneous restaurant visits.

McDonald's has often used short, conversational phrases to make its name sound like part of everyday speech. The campaign belongs to a period when the company was moving through several slogan changes before settling on “I'm Lovin' It” in the 2000s.

This slogan is sometimes confused with “Have You Had Your Break Today?” or “You Deserve a Break Today?”, both associated with different advertising eras.
