In Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga, Queen Bean is the ruler of the Beanbean Kingdom.
Queen Bean is introduced when Mario and Luigi travel beyond the Mushroom Kingdom to help restore Princess Peach’s stolen voice. She rules from Beanbean Castle and is one of the kingdom’s most important characters. Early in the adventure, Cackletta transforms Queen Bean into a rampaging monster, forcing the brothers to battle her before they can return her to normal.
The Beanbean Kingdom is a neighboring country populated mainly by Beanish people and Hoohooligans. Its culture, locations, and character names give the game a distinctive identity separate from the familiar Mushroom Kingdom. Queen Bean’s son, Prince Peasley, also assists Mario and Luigi and serves as a major royal figure, but he is not the kingdom’s ruler during the game.
A common mix-up is choosing Prince Peasley because he is a prominent royal character. Another is choosing Bowser, who is an outsider and antagonist rather than a Beanbean monarch. The title “Queen Bean” is both her name and her royal role.
