In Mario Kart: Double Dash!!, what is the special item for the Toad and Toadette pair?

In Mario Kart: Double Dash!!, Toad and Toadette’s special item is the Golden Mushroom.

The Golden Mushroom gives the pair repeated boosts for a limited period. After the player activates it, pressing the item button repeatedly triggers bursts of acceleration, making it especially useful on straightaways, during recoveries, or when trying to overtake several racers. It is stronger in practical use than an ordinary single Mushroom because it can be activated multiple times before the effect expires.

Toad and Toadette are a unique pair in Double Dash!! because they share the same special item. They were introduced together in this game, and both characters must be unlocked by winning the Special Cup in 100cc Grand Prix. Their lightweight class also gives them strong acceleration, complementing the Golden Mushroom’s speed boosts.

The item is sometimes described as the “Super Mushroom” in references to the game’s original terminology. Later Mario Kart games commonly call the same type of powerful timed item the Golden Mushroom.
