In Lost, which episode marks Boone Carlyle’s death?

The story behind the answer

“Do No Harm” is the Lost episode in which Boone Carlyle dies.

The episode is the twentieth episode of the first season and was written by Javier Grillo-Marxuach and supervising producer Craig Wright. Boone is fatally injured when a small aircraft crashes after he and John Locke investigate it. Jack Shephard tries to save him, but Boone’s injuries are too severe.

Boone’s death is a major turning point for the survivors. He is the first prominent member of the crash group to die through an on-island accident, and his final moments deepen the tension between Jack and Locke. The episode also features Claire Littleton going into labor, linking Boone’s medical emergency with the birth of Aaron.

The title can be confused with nearby Boone-centered episodes. “Hearts and Minds” explores Boone’s relationship with Shannon, while “Deus Ex Machina” immediately follows and deals heavily with Locke’s grief and the consequences of Boone’s death.
